OpenCPN Plugin

Get the Siitech Plugin for OpenCPN

The Siitech plugin is a free add-on for OpenCPN that enables encrypted S-63 Electronic Navigational Charts. You need it installed before you can activate or use any charts from MarineENC — it reads your device''s Hardware ID, which links your chart license to your device.

Compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux

What You Need Before You Start

  • OpenCPN version 5.12.4 or later — download OpenCPN if you don''t have it
  • The Siitech plugin installer file (sms63_pi.tar.gz), downloaded using the button above

Installing the Plugin

The installation steps are the same on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

  1. Download the plugin file
Click the Download button above to save the plugin installer (sms63_pi.tar.gz) to your computer.
  2. Open OpenCPN
    Launch OpenCPN 5.12.4 or later.
  3. Go to Options → Plugins
In the main toolbar, click Options, then select the Plugins tab.
  4. Import the plugin
Click Import Plugin, browse to the sms63_pi.tar.gz file you downloaded, and select it. The plugin installs and appears in the plugin list. If the new toolbar button doesn''t appear straight away, restart OpenCPN.

Once installed, a new button appears in the OpenCPN main toolbar. You use this button to import your purchased chart data after checkout.

After You Purchase Charts

When your order is complete and your charts are ready, you''ll receive an email with a download link. To load them into OpenCPN:

  1. Open the chart import dialog
Click the Siitech button in the OpenCPN toolbar.
  2. Install your chart dataset
Browse to your downloaded chart dataset and permit file, then click Install.
  3. Add the chart directory in OpenCPN
Go to Options → Charts and add the directory where your S-63 charts were saved.
  4. Rebuild the chart database
Click Rebuild Chart Database, then OK. Your charts will appear in the main chart window.

Troubleshooting

  • No new toolbar button after installing — Restart OpenCPN.
  • Charts not appearing after rebuilding the database — Confirm the chart directory added in Options matches the location where the dataset was actually installed.
  • Dataset fails to install — Check that the permit file matches the dataset and has not expired. If the problem continues, contact us.
